5 Must-Watch Anime That Blend Music, Slice of Life, and Girls

Some anime just hit different when they mix music, everyday life, and the ups and downs of girlhood. Whether it’s rocking out on stage, sipping tea with friends, or finding healing through a song, these shows remind us how powerful music can be when it’s tied to growing up.

Here are five of my favorite picks if you’re in the mood for some tunes and a whole lot of feels:

5 anime to watch girls and music nana

1. Nana

If you’ve ever chased a dream that felt bigger than life, Nana will speak to you.
Two girls named Nana cross paths — one a fierce rock vocalist with her eyes on fame, the other a hopeless romantic who just wants love.
Their stories intertwine with music, heartbreak, and messy choices. It’s raw, dramatic, and hits you right in the gut.
Definitely one for when you want something emotional and a little heavier.

5 anime to watch girls and music k-on

2. K-On!

This one is basically the definition of “cozy slice of life.” A group of high school girls start a light music club, but honestly… they spend more time eating cake and hanging out than actually practicing.
Still, when they do perform, it’s adorable and heartwarming.
Watching K-On! feels sweet, simple, and endlessly comforting.

5 anime to watch girls and music carol and tuesday future

3. Carole & Tuesday

Now here’s something a little different: Carole & Tuesday takes place in the future, on Mars of all places, where AI basically makes most of the music. Two girls — one a runaway rich kid with a guitar, the other a street-smart orphan with a keyboard — team up to make songs straight from the heart. Their journey is equal parts sci-fi adventure and emotional slice of life, and the music is honestly so good you’ll probably add it to your playlist.

5 anime to watch girls and music bocchi the rock

4. Bocchi the Rock!

This anime is for anyone who’s ever been too shy to speak up, but secretly dreams of being cool on stage. Hitori Gotou (aka Bocchi) is an anxious, introverted guitarist who slowly learns to come out of her shell after joining a band. It’s hilarious, relatable, and surprisingly touching. Plus, the performances rock. Watching Bocchi panic over social situations is equal parts funny and painfully real — and that’s exactly why you root for her.

5 anime to watch girls and music your lie in april

5. Your Lie in April

Okay, fair warning: this one is a tearjerker. It’s about a piano prodigy, Kousei, who’s lost his love for music after trauma, and a free-spirited violinist, Kaori, who brings light back into his world.
Their story is tender, fleeting, and set to gorgeous classical music.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll probably want to hug someone afterward. It’s one of those anime that stays with you long after the final episode.

Where to Watch These Anime

Here’s a quick guide so you can dive right in (availability might change depending on your region):

  1. Nana → Netflix (until Sept 30, 2025), or buy on Amazon Video.

In the end:

What I love about these shows is how they use music not just as a backdrop, but as a way to tell really human stories — about friendship, growing up, messing up, and finding joy.

Whether you’re in the mood for cozy tea-time vibes (K-On!), a good laugh (Bocchi the Rock!), or a cry-your-heart-out drama (Your Lie in April), there’s something here for you.
